Handover protocol apps: how BildProof is different
Most apps are digital forms. BildProof is a scan. Here is what that means for your Kaution (deposit).
A form app records what you think of. BildProof scans every room, shows what is still missing, and compares move-in with move-out.
What BildProof does differently
Five things a form app does not do for you.

Scanning, not snapping
You pan your phone through the room. The app captures the walls, floor and ceiling, so you do not take single photos.

You see what is still missing
While you scan, the app shows which parts you have captured and which you have not.

Only photos from the scan
Photos from your gallery cannot be added. So every picture provably comes from this visit.

The move-out builds on the move-in
Findings from the move-in are already there at move-out. You only mark them: unchanged, fixed or worse.

Anyone can check it is real
Nobody can fake the date and time. If a photo is changed later, the check at bildproof.de/verify shows it straight away.

How the two kinds of app differ. Individual form apps may offer more or less.

Why this matters
You are not liable for normal wear (§ 538 BGB). If the landlord keeps money for damage, the landlord must first prove the damage happened during your tenancy. If the flat was handed over unrenovated, you must prove that. Both only work with a complete record from move-in and move-out.

Frequently asked questions
Does BildProof replace the Übergabeprotokoll?
No. You sign the Übergabeprotokoll as usual, on paper or in another app. Photograph it in BildProof and it becomes part of the same report as your photos.
How much does BildProof cost?
Scanning is free and you pay only when you send: 9.99 € per handover or 14.99 € for move-in and move-out together, no subscription.
Does my landlord need the app too?
No. Your landlord gets the report by email and can check it is real at bildproof.de/verify, with no app and no account.
